Looking for brands and stores in Vancouver that support the responsible fashion movement?? Here is your guide on where to shop!!

The trend of responsible fashion keeps growing, and more and more retailers are jumping on board. So what is “responsible fashion??” It is a movement toward environmental and social responsibility in the global fashion industry. Encouraging consumers to know where and how their clothes are being made.

Thankfully, there are several places to shop in Vancouver! Not just from brands who create their products in an ethical matter and use sustainable materials. This also includes shopping consignment, and vintage. We also want to keep clothing from ending up in the landfill! Responsible fashion is a trend that continues to gain popularity.

So, read on to see what stores & brands are on my Vancouver guide!

  1. Arc Apparel – This Gastown boutique in Vancouver carries a beautiful, curated collection of clothing & accessories. They source out the socially responsible brands, so that you don’t have to! ;-). I was amazed to learn that several of my favourite brands were in fact, responsible! On the hunt for great denim, basics and seasonal styles that will last?? Shop in store or online.
  2. June Isle Clothier – After launching as a children’s brand in 2017, June Isle grew quickly and has since expanded into womenswear. Their mission is to create timeless pieces inspired by nature that will last. Made from organic, sustainable materials, and sewn in Vancouver. I love the natural, breathable fibres this brand uses to create their simple, classic designs. Shop online here.
  3. Harly Jae – A feminine, vintage-inspired line, ethically made in Vancouver. I first discovered this line on Bethany Menzel’s Instagram, where she featured their two-piece set. Their garments are made well and designed for longevity. Shop online here.
  4. Frank & Oak, Minimal Sustainable Styles – Frank & Oak recently launched a collection made from sustainable materials. It consists of tailored blazers, shorts and pants, denim, cotton tops and dresses. I love the simple, modern designs!  Shop in store or online.
  5. Melissa Araujo – This Vancouver based designer lives and preaches a sustainable lifestyle, which is what inspired her to create her own line. I had the pleasure of meeting Melissa earlier this year and view her collection of clothing and jewelry. Her designs are timeless, functional and comfortable. I love her minimal style! Shop online here.
  6. Roque Jewelry – This unique, fine jewelry brand launched in Vancouver in 2017. Vancouver Responsible Fashion Guide – CONSIGNMENT/RESALE

  1. Turnabout Resale – With six locations in Vancouver, you are sure to be close to a Turnabout store. If you love designer goods but don’t like the price tags, you are in luck! Turnabout sells and consigns quality resale items for a fraction of their original price. It’s impossible to walk out empty handed! Shop in-store.
  2. Front & Company – Since 1993, this Main Street shop has been selling fashion for both men and women. With over 5000 consignors, they are able to carry an amazing selection of consignment and vintage. This is a great place to go if you are just beginning to shop vintage. Shop in-store or online.

  4. The Main Exchange – Miranda sells “curated contemporary consignment” in her cute boutique shop on Main Street in Vancouver. Miranda started her business when she was only 24 years old! A young and ambitious entrepreneur encouraging women to shop resale, instead of new. She has a keen eye for style, and offers ready-to-wear looks at affordable prices. Shop in-store or online.
