It has been quiet on the blog as of recently, and today I am ready to share why, in the form of a tribute.

My grandmother (or as I called her, Nana) was a VERY special woman. One that walked this earth with poise, grace, confidence and strength. Combined with her soft spoken voice (and precious English accent), along with her petite frame, she was fierce in the warmest of ways.

When I think of my Nana, I picture her dressed to the nines in a gorgeous ensemble, completely put together. She was always a woman of fashion. She had a keen sense of style through0ut her life. Even in her final weeks, I was amazed at how she presented herself. Always wearing what worked best for her, and even in her late eighties, still managed to wear heels. She was, undoubtedly, my style icon.

Even as a little girl, I can still remember talking about fashion with my Nana. We shared so many similar interests, and that was certainly one of them. She was one of my biggest supporters in my career, and was always eager to learn more about what I do. We spent countless hours shopping and chatting about style; We would be so excited to share our latest purchase stories with each other at every visit.

Nana would always stress to me the importance of taking care of your skin, and natural beauty. I will forever hear her voice telling me to stay out of the sun. If you could have seen her skin at the age of 87, you would be taking her advice as well..

My fondest memory as a child was visiting her when she lived in France, and spending a summer in Bordeaux, learning about the culture. She lived life exactly how she wanted to. She followed her passions, and focused on what is most important: happiness. She was always the person I admired, and aspired to be. xo

I am sorry to hear about your grandmother, Samantha. I loved my grandmother too. She would drop everything when I came over and rush around, trying to make me a meal. I would tell her I wasn’t hungry but to no avail. Grandmothers fulfill a very special place in your heart.
