Mother's Day Gift Box with a Cause

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and I am trading in my typical monochrome minimal style for something more feminine, and for a good cause…

Mother's Day Gift Box with a Cause

My mom has always loved flowers and pretty, feminine details, so when I heard about this gift idea, I immediately thought of her. The talented ladies behind The Cake Mama and Ever Red Fresh Designs have teamed up to offer something special this year; a gift box for the well deserving Mama, that also gives back. A pretty little white box containing a gorgeous floral crown and six almost too pretty to eat sugar cookies for $65, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Cause We Care Foundation. This organization assists local single mothers and their children who are in need, so what better time to support this cause then Mother’s Day ♥

With two boys (well technically three counting Scott) these cookies didn’t last long in our house! Speaking of boys, I thought I would share a little personal note on motherhood about the three best pieces of advice I have received on raising boys..

  1. You are blessed with what you can handle. I don’t always handle it well, but I have been given two boys and I am embracing this wild, crazy life! There have been countless moments of “I don’t think I can do this” yet somehow you just do!
  2. Don’t try to shut down their energy. Boys naturally have a lot of energy, so I have learned to just roll with it. They are loud, they do everything with “passion”, and they need to be constantly moving.
  3. Don’t compare your boys to girls. This may seem obvious, but trust me, it happens! I should probably have this written down and posted in my house as I have compared more times than I can count. I have a lot of friends with girls and it’s hard not to notice that for the most part, they can sit still longer, and aren’t nearly as loud! But as stated in #2, boys have endless amounts of energy. They somehow know about superheroes before they are even exposed to them through books/television, they love to rough and tumble, and they like to turn everything into a weapon. I had a difficult time accepting this as I don’t understand, but that’s only because I am not a boy!

What is the best piece of advice you have received?? Share below in the comment section!

Thank you for the post on Mother’s Day from one mother to another, Samantha. As the mother of a son and a daughter, I can say I truly love both.
