Whether you’re a mom or working a full time job (or both), it is a mutual feeling across the board that there are not enough hours in the day. We all feel it. The challenge is prioritizing and getting what needs to be done, done, and somehow miraculously finding time to care for yourself so that you can continue to hustle. In the many lessons I have learned since becoming a mom, the one that I am constantly reminding myself is to simplify as much as you can ( I can also hear my husband’s voice saying this to me on repeat, because I am SO guilty of taking on more than I can handle). Taking care of yourself, for example, is so important in order to take care of others. So, how do you find the time to do that when your to-do list is NEVER ENDING?? My solution?? Do so at home, during those quiet moments. Every once in a while, forget that endless pile of laundry and sink full of dishes and give yourself that WELL DESERVED TIME. They will be there for you tomorrow, so is there really a rush?? 😉 It doesn’t require much, and you don’t even have to leave your house! I have recently been using Kismet Essentials, a Vancouver based company creating self-care products made from all natural, organic ingredients (only the essentials 😉 ). I must admit, I was immediately drawn to their sleek, modern packaging (I am a sucker for good branding), and simple list of ingredients. I develop headaches/migraines very easily from fragrances that are not natural, so it was a pleasant surprise to find products that not only do I enjoy using, but they smell good too! Speaking of scents, let’s start with one of my favourites… the day dreamer mist spray. Made from lavender, chamomile, witch hazel and coconut oil – that’s it. This “dreamy” spray can be used many ways – on the face as a toner, as a room spray, or on your pillow. I literally walk around spraying this everywhere in the evenings. There is something so calming about it that I just can’t enough! Especially when I have had a busy day and my boys have exhausted me to no end (which let’s face it, is everyday!). COFFEE ANYTHING… Please. I am totally obsessed with anything related to coffee. I love the taste, the smell. If you haven’t tried a coffee scrub before, you MUST. I was using them constantly after having Rex as I found it totally energized me in the morning. You may be saying to yourself, I thought this was about relaxing?? but it’s not just about that. Taking time to do something for yourself, whether that be day or night helps us stay grounded and less stressed. The invigorating smell of both the coffee and orange in this Coffee Body Scrub immediately wakes you up, while leaving your skin hydrated and soft. I developed a new love for baths while pregnant with both of my boys. It quickly became a nightly ritual, and one that I would look forward to all day. An opportunity to completely unplug, and rest your body. Fast forward 6 years since our first son was born, and I will admit, this ritual has sadly fallen to the wayside. I was so excited when I received this Float dead sea salt soak for several reasons. 1. It gave me a great excuse to actually have a bath. 2. Epsom salts helps relieve muscle tension, so it leaves you not only feeling relaxed mentally, but physically too. 3. Eucalyptus + peppermint combined = yes please. It smells heavenly. So, please let this be a reminder to take care of yourself. Spend at least a few minutes a day and do something for your mind + body. For a full list of their products, click here.
